BS Psychology (Lateral Entry)

2 Years Program
The BS Psychology (Lateral Entry) program is designed for students who have completed an Associate Degree (ADP) or a conventional BA/BSc/equivalent qualification and wish to continue their studies toward a four-year BS degree in Psychology. In accordance with HEC guidelines, eligible students are admitted into the 5th semester after completion of any required bridging or deficiency courses. The program builds upon prior academic learning and provides advanced knowledge of human behavior, mental processes, psychological research, and applied psychology while developing critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills. Students explore diverse areas of psychology including clinical, developmental, social, educational, and organizational psychology, preparing them for opportunities in education, healthcare, social services, human resource management, and community development, as well as for higher studies and professional specialization in psychology and related fields.

Admission Criteria:

1. Eligibility on the Basis of Associate Degree (AD)
Applicants who have completed a two-year Associate Degree (AD) or equivalent qualification from an HEC-recognized institution may apply for admission into the 5th semester of BS Psychology subject to the following conditions:
a) Same Discipline Route
b) Candidates holding an Associate Degree in Psychology or a closely related discipline shall be eligible for direct admission into the 5th semester without deficiency courses.
c) Different Discipline Route
d) Candidates holding an Associate Degree in a discipline other than Psychology may also be considered for admission. Such applicants shall be required to complete prescribed deficiency/bridging courses before the commencement of the 5th semester, as determined by the Department/University.
e) Minimum Academic Requirement
f) Applicants must have secured at least 2.00/4.00 CGPA in the Associate Degree or equivalent qualification.
g) Additional Admission Requirements
h) The University reserves the right to:
set higher merit criteria;
conduct an interview and/or entry assessment;
determine the number and nature of deficiency courses on a case-to-case basis
2. Eligibility on the Basis of Conventional BA/BSc or Equivalent Qualification
Applicants holding a conventional two-year BA/BSc or equivalent qualification from an HEC- recognized institution may apply for lateral entry admission subject to the following conditions:
a) Candidates shall be required to complete prescribed deficiency/bridging courses before joining the 5th semester, as determined by the Department/University.
b) Applicants must have obtained at least 45% marks (cumulative) in the qualifying examination.
c) Preference may be given to candidates having prior academic exposure to Psychology or related social sciences subjects.
d) The University may prescribe higher merit requirements, interview procedures, or additional academic conditions where necessary.
3 General Conditions
a) All admissions shall be subject to verification of academic credentials by the University.
b) The equivalence of qualifications and determination of relevant/related disciplines shall be decided by the University/Departmental Admission Committee.
c) Completion of deficiency or bridging courses, where applicable, shall be mandatory for continuation in the BS Psychology program.
d) Admission shall remain subject to seat availability and fulfillment of all university/University regulations in force at the time of admission.
