In line with the HEC Undergraduate Education Policy 2023, the 4-year Bachelor of Studies in English (Linguistics) program provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary understanding of the English language and linguistics in both historical and contemporary contexts. Throughout the program, students engage with a broad spectrum of linguistic theories, discourse analysis, phonetics, syntax, sociolinguistics, and communicative practices to develop a critical awareness of language structure, culture, and meaning-making. The curriculum is designed to equip students with foundational and advanced knowledge in English Linguistics supported by core and elective courses that reflect global trends, local relevance, and emerging fields such as digital humanities, computational linguistics, and language technology.

The program envisions equipping English linguistics undergraduates with the content knowledge, abilities, and superior professional conduct necessary for success in the twenty-first century to impact society positively.
Mission:
The mission of the program is to give students a thorough understanding of multidimensional facets of English language and linguistics by developing their linguistic sensibility, enabling them to think critically about language structures and communicative practices, with the ultimate goal of providing high-quality professional skills.
Objectives of the Program:
The objectives of the Bachelor of Studies in English (Linguistics) program are to enable students to:1) Possess the capacity to comprehend and analyze linguistic structures and narrative codes;
2) Understand the most recent research trends and practices in English linguistics;
3) Write extensive descriptive and analytical manuscripts;
4) Use academic jargon and critical faculties to produce spoken and written analyses;
5) Comprehend the relationship between language, texts, and social contexts; and
6) Be familiar with advanced research methodologies in English linguistics.

By the completion of the program, graduates will be able to:
• Develop all-around English linguistic skills to thrive in a highly competitive job market;
• Explore new career paths such as public speaking, professional blog writing, computer-assisted language systems, and manuscript translation;

Admission Criteria:
• For students who have passed F.A / F.Sc, I.Com or *equivalent in Annual system:
- Minimum 45% marks in F.A / F.Sc, I.Com or *equivalent
- Minimum 45% marks in English compulsory subject
• For students who have passed F.A / F.Sc, I.Com or *equivalent in Semester system:
- Minimum 60% marks in F.A / F.Sc, I.Com or *equivalent
- Minimum 45% marks in English compulsory subject
• For A-Level Students:
- IBCC Equivalence Certificate (Minimum 60% Marks)
- Minimum 'B' Grade in English Language (Compulsory) in O-Levels
