The Department of English at Rashid Latif Khan University Lahore offers an advanced postgraduate program — Master of Studies in English Literature (MS English Literature). Designed in accordance with HEC Graduate Education Policy guidelines, the MS program places a strong emphasis on scholarly research, critical theory, and independent investigation. Students receive rigorous instruction on analyzing literary texts theoretically, examining postcolonial, feminist, and postmodern frameworks, and participating in contemporary academic discourses. The program equips graduates for academic leadership, doctoral studies, high-level research, and professional careers in publishing, education, and cultural institutions.

Objectives of the Program:
The objectives of the MS English (Literature) program are to:1) Impart in-depth understanding of main literary trends, genres, and traditions in English literature;
2) Enhance capacity for critical interpretation of literary works from theoretical and historical viewpoints;
3) Familiarize students with critical methods employed in modern literary studies;
4) Improve research, analytical, and academic writing abilities for advanced scholarship;
5) Promote self-directed research and critical interaction with modern and classic literature; and
6) Prepare graduates for careers in higher education, research, and cultural studies.
Program Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of the MS English (Literature) program, students will be able to:
• Apply suitable theoretical and analytical frameworks to the critical analysis of literary materials;
• Examine literary works in light of their intellectual, cultural, and historical backgrounds;
• Use cutting-edge literary studies research techniques and generate well-structured academic writing; and
• Perform innovative research and compose a high-quality MPhil/MS Thesis.
Admission Criteria:
• Basic Eligibility: BS English (4-Year) or M.A English (16 years of education) with minimum 2.50/4.00 CGPA or 2nd Division.
• Admission Test: RLKU Admission Test / GRE / HAT General with minimum 50% passing score.
• Interview: Successful candidates must qualify the departmental interview.
